Cancer of the Prostate
Cancer cells have been detected in men as early as age 30 in about 25% of all men tested. By the time men reach 50 almost 35% of all men have at least some cancer cells in their prostate. Prostate cancer is the most prevalent male cancer affecting 1 in 12 males. In fact, almost 100% of all males who live to age 75 will have at least some cancer cells present in their prostate.
Literally, tens of thousands of American and Canadian males die from prostate cancer each year. Concerns are that the numbers are rising to such a degree that these figures may triple in the next 20 years to a point that 1 in every 4 males will contract prostate cancer. Prevention in the early stages of the disease is paramount to reducing the onset of prostate cancer.
To some degree, 25 million men in North America suffer from some form of prostatic disease resulting in over 2.7 million physician visits annually.
